The Conference Apprentice Program (CAP) is a unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes perspective on everything involved with an ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee or a specific SIGGRAPH Conference program.
As a Conference Apprentice, you will either take on a specific role on an ACM SIGGRAPH Executive or SIGGRAPH Conference Committee. You will be mentored by an ACM SIGGRAPH or SIGGRAPH Conference Committee member and have the opportunity to build your SIGGRAPH network by meeting and learning from the professionals, creators, educators, and visionaries who make SIGGRAPH possible. Individuals who demonstrate leadership and a passion for volunteering for SIGGRAPH are encouraged to apply!
This experience is available to those who are no longer eligible to serve as a SIGGRAPH Conference Student Volunteer or Team Leader. Applicants must have attended the SIGGRAPH Conference at least once in the last 3 years.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to expand your knowledge of what goes into putting this awesome conference together each year and get involved with the SIGGRAPH community!
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older on or before 01 July 2023.
Applicants must no longer be eligible to serve as a SIGGRAPH Conference Student Volunteer or Team Leader. This means high school, undergraduate, or graduate students enrolled with a minimum of 6 credit hours for at least one semester during the 2022 – 2023 academic year (Summer 2022 – Spring 2023) are NOT eligible.
Applicants must have attended the SIGGRAPH Conference at least once in the last 3 years.
CAP applications will be considered based on the best fit/match for the available positions at the time of the deadline. Submit your application early for the highest likelihood of pairing. The number of pairings is dependent on the requests received from the venue chairs and Executive Committee representatives.
The application must be fully completed and submitted before the deadline to be considered. Be sure your resume highlights your skills and qualifications to be a Conference Apprentice.
Please complete the application on the S3 website no later than 22:00 UTC/GMT on 30 April 2023 for consideration. Application pairings will be completed on a rolling basis, so the earlier you apply then the higher likelihood for a match.
If matched, you will receive an email notification at the same address you provided in your application. Please adjust your spam filter so that messages from siggraph.org email addresses will not be placed in your junk-mail folder.
Meet with all accepted Conference Apprentices and the S3 CAP Liaison to discuss pairing and expectations.
Meet with your mentor in online sessions or via phone calls throughout the year. Discuss the assignments to be completed, expectations, and timeline for delivery. Work on tasks to support the specific project or conference program you are paired with. Set up check-points throughout the program and be prepared to shadow your mentor during the conference.
Commit to participating in the conference, 6 - 10 August, 2023. Depending on the program you are paired with and the tasks you are assigned, you may be required to assist with preconference set-up a couple days before the conference starts.
The ACM SIGGRAPH Committee and SIGGRAPH 2023 Committee members are all very busy throughout the year and during the conference. Please be prompt replying to emails and punctual when attending online and conference meetings.
